Cafe Rose, inspired by Tom Ford Café Rose (2012)

Café Rose puts a rich rose, built from both rose essence and rose absolute, against the bitter, roasted darkness of coffee. Ylang-ylang adds a creamy floral sweetness, while coriander and cardamom bring a green, aromatic spice. Patchouli gives the composition depth, and incense with sandalwood leaves a smoky, woody finish.

About the original

Café Rose appeared in autumn 2012 as part of the Private Blend Jardin Noir series. Tom Ford now lists it in its Signature line as a women's fragrance. Its published notes have changed since launch: the 2012 list included saffron and black pepper, while the current one names ylang-ylang, coriander and cardamom instead. Its perfumer has not been identified.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Depth matters more here than prettiness: the coffee and incense keep the rose dark and spicy rather than romantic and fresh. It is a rich scent. Someone hoping for a light, dewy rose will find it too dense.

Yes. Coffee is one of the main notes, giving the rose a dark, roasted bitterness rather than a sweet, latte-like effect.

It launched as one in 2012, in the Jardin Noir series. Tom Ford now places it in its Signature line for women.
