La Panthere

La Panthere, inspired by Cartier La Panthère (2014)

La Panthère opens on an unusual green-fruity accord: tart rhubarb, strawberry and a dried-fruit richness. Gardenia then takes centre stage, creamy and heady, the flower around which the whole perfume is built. Musk and oakmoss underneath give it a chypre structure, so the floral never becomes simply pretty.

About the original

Mathilde Laurent, Cartier's in-house perfumer, created La Panthère, launched in March 2014. Its name and stylised panther-head bottle refer to the panther, a long-standing Cartier emblem, and to Panthère de Cartier, a different perfume from 1986. Cartier has since added a Parfum, Édition Soir and limited editions. This page is modelled on the 2014 Eau de Parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Cartier stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who enjoy classic chypres will feel at home with it. The gardenia is full and the moss gives a slightly old-fashioned, powdery feel, which some admire and others find dated.

Is this the 2014 La Panthère or the 1986 Panthère?

The 2014 La Panthère Eau de Parfum by Mathilde Laurent. Panthère de Cartier from 1986 is an older, different perfume.
