L.12.12 Magnetic, inspired by Lacoste Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Magnetic Pour Lui (2016)

Magnetic starts green and bracing. Juniper brings a gin-like, piney note, bamboo a watery greenness and artemisia (wormwood) a bitter herbal edge. The heart is cooler and quieter, with violet's leafy, faintly powdery character, geranium, and the dry, tannic note of black tea. From there it moves into a darker base of patchouli, vetiver and amber, more resinous and sensual than the opening suggests.

About the original

Lacoste released L.12.12 Magnetic Pour Lui in November 2016 as a duo with Magnetic Pour Elle, part of the L.12.12 line inspired by the 1933 Lacoste polo shirt. It came as an eau de toilette in 50 and 100 ml, later joined by a 175 ml size. Magnetic was launched under Coty, which held the Lacoste fragrance licence before it moved to Interparfums. It is no longer in Lacoste's current range, which still includes other L.12.12 colours such as Blanc, Bleu and Silver Grey.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lacoste stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Somewhere between a sporty fresh scent and a darker woody one, it suits men who want both in one bottle. The base is noticeably deeper than the top, which may surprise a buyer expecting freshness throughout.

It is no longer in Lacoste's current fragrance range. It dates from the period when Coty held the Lacoste licence.

Is this the men's or the women's Magnetic?

The men's, L.12.12 Magnetic Pour Lui. Magnetic Pour Elle was released alongside it as a separate scent.

How does it relate to L.12.12 Blanc or Bleu?

They belong to the same L.12.12 line but are different fragrances. Blanc and Bleu remain in Lacoste's range; Magnetic does not.
