L'Homme Sport, inspired by Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Sport (2014)

Aldehydes give the first spray a sparkling, soapy lift, like the fizz on freshly poured tonic. Verbena and bergamot add lemony clarity on top. Coriander then brings a dry spice, and woody notes start to show through. Cedar and a light amber close it out, rounding off the citrus without weighing it down.

About the original

YSL launched L'Homme Sport in May 2014 as a flanker to L'Homme from 2006, sold in a 60 ml bottle with Olivier Martinez as the campaign face. Anne Flipo and Juliette Karagueuzoglou created it. The brand described it as woody freshness with a wave of citrus notes, carried on an ambery trail. It is no longer listed on YSL's UK, French or US sites, and fragrance databases report it as discontinued.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Yves Saint Laurent stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Clean citrus is the core of it, so it suits someone who reaches for fresh, uncomplicated scents. The amber in the base plays a supporting role rather than leading. The aldehydes can read as slightly soapy, which some buyers like and others do not.
