Oud Ambroisie

Oud Ambroisie, inspired by Lancôme Maison Lancôme Ôud Ambroisie (2016)

Lancôme described Ôud Ambroisie as a 'triptych' of woods: oud aged for twenty years, cedarwood and patchouli. Oud, the resin-soaked heartwood of the agarwood tree, brings a smoky, slightly medicinal depth; cedar adds a dry, pencil-shaving line, and patchouli contributes earthiness. Across them runs a rose with a honeyed tone, sweet enough to round the woods without turning pretty. The overall effect is dark and resinous.

About the original

Ilias Ermenidis created Ôud Ambroisie for Les Parfums Grands Crus, the Maison Lancôme collection, where it launched in August 2016, first at Harrods. It came as a 100 ml Eau de Parfum. Lancôme sold it as a women's scent, although fragrance databases class it as unisex. It is distinct from Ôud Bouquet (2014), a sweeter rose and saffron oud, and from L'Autre Ôud (2013). Ôud Ambroisie itself is no longer among the Maison Lancôme scents on the brand's UK and Irish sites.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wood-and-resin enthusiasts of any gender will find plenty here. Oud and patchouli give it a dark, resinous character from the start, which makes it a poor fit for someone wanting a light floral.

Notes: Oud Wood Aged Twenty Years, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Honey Rose

Oud and cedarwood come through first, smoky and dry, with the rose already showing as a honeyed glow behind them.

Through the middle the honey rose grows more distinct, giving the woods a sweet, ambrosial cast that suits the name.

Patchouli anchors the drydown, earthy and dark, with oud still present underneath.

Is Maison Lancôme Ôud Ambroisie discontinued?

It no longer appears in Lancôme's Maison collection on the brand's UK and Irish sites, and we found no announcement from Lancôme. Some resellers still list bottles.

Is this the same as Ôud Bouquet?

No. Ôud Ambroisie (2016) is built on aged oud, cedar, patchouli and honey rose. Ôud Bouquet (2014) is a rose and saffron oud with vanilla and praline, which we make separately.

Is Ôud Ambroisie a men's or women's fragrance?

Lancôme sold it as a women's scent, but databases class it as unisex, and its woody character suits either.

Is Lancôme Oud Ambroisie coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Lancôme that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
