Pleats Please, inspired by Issey Miyake Pleats Please (2012)

Nashi pear, the round Asian pear with crunchy, watery flesh, sets a crisp fruity tone. Peony and sweet pea follow, light and petal-fresh, with a touch of indole, the compound in white flowers that adds a slightly heady, animal nuance. The base stays clean: cedar and white musk, with patchouli and vanilla lending just a little depth.

About the original

Aurélien Guichard created Pleats Please for Issey Miyake, and it launched as an eau de toilette in Europe in late summer 2012, reaching the US in 2013. It was named in homage to Miyake's Pleats Please clothing line, and was designed to feel playful, happy and optimistic. A limited L'Elixir eau de parfum followed in November 2012, later joined by a Pleats Please eau de parfum and Pleats Please L'Eau, each a different formula. Retailer listings suggest the original eau de toilette has been withdrawn.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Issey Miyake stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Light and uncomplicated, it leans more toward fresh fruit than toward sugar. The indolic touch in the heart is slight, though sensitive noses may notice it, and lovers of rich or ambery scents will find it too sheer.

Is Issey Miyake Pleats Please discontinued?

The fragrance no longer appears in Issey Miyake's range, according to retailer listings. The Pleats Please clothing label is a separate, ongoing line.

Is this Pleats Please L'Eau or L'Elixir?

Neither. It is inspired by the original 2012 eau de toilette with nashi pear and peony. L'Elixir (2012) and L'Eau are different compositions.

Is Issey Miyake Pleats Please coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Issey Miyake that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days.
