Sentiment, inspired by Escada Sentiment (2000)

Sentiment starts with tart currants and green mandarin, lifted by an airy iris and magnolia note. The middle is rounder, with white peach lending a velvety fruit tone to hyacinth and tuberose. As it settles, orris root and heliotrope (a flower with an almond-and-powder scent) take the lead, and vanilla sweetens the finish over sandalwood and rosewood. It stays light throughout, never dense.

About the original

Nathalie Gracia-Cetto created Sentiment for Escada in 2000, sold in a pink bottle with a heart-shaped stopper. A men's fragrance, Escada Sentiment pour Homme, was released as its companion and is a different scent. The women's version is no longer stocked in Escada's range at major European retailers, and fragrance references widely describe it as discontinued. No official statement from the brand has been found.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Escada stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

People who wore it around 2000 often come back to it for nostalgia, and it rewards that memory. It is a floral of modest weight for day or evening, pretty rather than dramatic. The powdery iris-and-heliotrope drydown may feel old-fashioned to anyone after a clean, modern musk.

Red and black currant open it, tangy and a little green thanks to green mandarin, with iris and magnolia already hovering above.

White peach, hyacinth and tuberose form the heart, while orris root adds a cool, rooty powder.

Heliotrope and vanilla give the base its cosmetic sweetness, resting on amber, Brazilian rosewood and sandalwood.

Is Escada Sentiment discontinued?

It is no longer listed in Escada's range at major retailers, and collectors report it has been withdrawn. Escada has made no public statement.

Is this the women's or the men's Sentiment?

The women's version from 2000. Escada Sentiment pour Homme is a separate fragrance.

Is Sentiment powdery?

Yes, mostly in the second half, when iris, orris and heliotrope come forward.

Is Escada Sentiment coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Escada that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
