Serpentine

Serpentine, inspired by Roberto Cavalli Serpentine (2005)

A fruity opening of mango and mandarin is roughened slightly by artemisia, an aromatic herb with a bitter, sage-like edge. Tiare and frangipani then bring a tropical floral heart, and a little pepper keeps it from turning syrupy. The base is amber smoothed by sandalwood and tolu balsam, a resin with a sweet, cinnamon-like tone.

About the original

Jacques Cavallier of Firmenich is credited with the 2005 Serpentine, which came in a gold bottle with intertwined snakes (some databases date it to 2006). In 2025 Interparfums launched a women's fragrance under the same name, first at Dubai Duty Free and then as Serpentine Parfum on the brand's website. That newer scent is a different composition built on saffron, lavender and vanilla, not a relaunch of the 2005 one. Our product takes the 2005 original as its reference, and that version now turns up only as old stock.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Roberto Cavalli stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of ambery orientals with a fruity top will recognise the style at once. It is sweet and rich, and the mango-and-frangipani pairing may feel too exotic for someone used to clean, airy perfumes.

The 2005 Serpentine no longer appears in Roberto Cavalli's range. The Serpentine Parfum sold today is a separate 2025 fragrance with a different composition.

So far, we have found no announcement from Roberto Cavalli that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
