Carmina, inspired by Creed Carmina (2023)

Carmina opens on dark fruit: black cherry, lifted by the leathery edge of saffron and the prickle of pink pepper. Its heart is rose de mai, the May-harvested rose with a honeyed, slightly green scent, joined by violet and peony, while cashmere wood (a smooth, musky woody material) gives it body. In the base, frankincense and myrrh bring a church-like resin note, rounded off by amber and musk.

About the original

Creed launched Carmina in autumn 2023 as a women's fragrance. According to the house, it was inspired by Henry Creed's fashion sketchbooks, a nod to its origins in tailoring. Creed classes it as a floral amber with woody and musk facets, and launch press called it bold yet sultry. No perfumer is named in the official material.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Creed stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

A wearer drawn to incense-tinged perfumes will understand Carmina at once. The cherry brings a fruity sweetness at the start, and the frankincense and myrrh base can feel heavy to anyone who avoids resins.

Is Carmina a rose perfume?

Rose de mai is at its centre, but it shares the stage with black cherry, violet and a resinous base, so it reads as a spiced floral amber rather than a single-flower rose.

Does Carmina smell of cherry?

Yes, black cherry is one of the opening notes. It is most noticeable at the start, before the rose and resins take over.
