Gris Dior, inspired by Dior Gris Dior (2013)

Gris Dior opens with bergamot, then rose that feels cool and slightly dusty rather than romantic. Patchouli and oakmoss sit close beneath, giving that earthy, damp forest-floor shade characteristic of a chypre, the family built on citrus over moss and woods. Cedar and sandalwood keep the base dry and smooth, with a touch of amber. It wears as calm, polished and fairly linear.

About the original

François Demachy created the scent in 2013 for La Collection Privée Christian Dior, where it launched as Gris Montaigne. Dior renamed it Gris Dior in 2017 for the house's 70th anniversary, framing it as a tribute to the grey long associated with Dior. Actor Joseph Quinn became its global ambassador in 2022, and limited-edition couture cases have appeared for the Cruise and New Look collections. The regular eau de parfum remains in La Collection Privée.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Anyone who likes rose but finds most rose perfumes too sweet or too pretty may appreciate its cool, mossy restraint. It is unisex in spirit. Some find it linear, so a buyer wanting a scent that changes dramatically over the day may prefer something else.
