Herbes Troublantes, inspired by Guerlain L'Art & La Matière Herbes Troublantes (2021)

Herbs come first: thyme, mint and rosemary, crushed and green, set over Calabrian bergamot. It reads as Guerlain's take on the eau de cologne tradition, with the herbs pushed forward. Orange blossom adds a gentle floral middle, and the base is a cottony musk. Guerlain likens it to a walk in a meadow wearing a white T-shirt that smells of Marseille soap.

About the original

Guerlain launched this scent around 2021 in its L'Art & La Matière collection as Un Dimanche à la Campagne, after Bertrand Tavernier's film of that name. The brand's pages now state that Herbes Troublantes is its new name. Guerlain currently credits Delphine Jelk, while earlier sources credit Thierry Wasser for the original release. Whether the formula changed at the rename has not been documented.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Guerlain stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Clean, aromatic scents with no sweetness are this one's territory. Mint and thyme are prominent, so someone looking for a floral or ambery Guerlain may find it too herbal.
