Jazz Club begins with a peppery citrus burst that quickly gives way to rum. The heart pairs the rum with clary sage, an aromatic herb with a cool, slightly medicinal tone, and Java vetiver for earthiness. In the base, tobacco leaf and vanilla bean settle into a sweet tobacco accord held together by resinous styrax.

About the original

Launched in March 2013, Jazz Club was the first men's fragrance in Maison Margiela's Replica series. Its memory is a private jazz club in Brooklyn, with cocktails and fine cigars late into the night. It is usually credited to perfumer Aliénor Massenet. The Replica name comes from the house's 1992 clothing line, which remade vintage garments and labelled them with the place and period of the original.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Margiela stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Although it was launched for men, it is widely worn as unisex, and the rum and vanilla make it approachable rather than austere. Maison Margiela suggests it for autumn and winter. Its sweetness and the tobacco may not appeal to a buyer who wants something crisp.
