Oud Maracuja, inspired by Maison Crivelli Oud Maracujá (2023)

Tangy passion fruit is the first thing to register, and saffron adds a leathery, slightly metallic spice almost at once. Rose smooths the join between fruit and wood. Soon the composition darkens: oud and leather move forward, patchouli brings an earthy depth, and cistus (a resinous shrub with an ambery, faintly animalic smell) thickens the base. Vanilla and benzoin round the edges without turning it into a dessert.

About the original

Oud Maracujá joined the Maison Crivelli range in 2023, the year most fragrance references give for its launch. It is usually credited to perfumer Jordi Fernández. The house built it on a contrast between fresh passion fruit and tropical oud, and sells it as an extrait de parfum of around 32%. It is a separate fragrance from the brand's other oud, Oud Cadenza.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Maison Crivelli stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Dark, resinous and sweet-fruited at once, it splits opinion: people tend either to love the passion fruit against the oud or to find the pairing odd. Its fans reach for it mostly on autumn and winter evenings. If leather and patchouli already appeal, the fruit is the twist that sets it apart.

Passion fruit opens it, tart and tropical, with saffron and Turkish rose close behind.

The heart is where the oud shows itself, dry and woody, joined by leather and Indonesian patchouli.

Laos benzoin, Spanish cistus and vanilla form the base, with akigalawood, a modern woody material with a peppery edge, keeping it from going syrupy.

How fruity is Oud Maracuja?

The passion fruit is clear in the opening and lingers as a tangy accent, but oud, leather and patchouli carry most of the wear. It reads as a dark woody scent with fruit, not as a fruity perfume.

Is it related to Emporio Armani Power of You, which also uses passion fruit?

No. Power of You is a sweet women's gourmand with frangipani and vanilla, while Oud Maracujá is a unisex oud with leather and resins. We make both.

Is this Oud Maracujá or Oud Cadenza?
