Pacific Chill, inspired by Louis Vuitton Pacific Chill (2023)

Pacific Chill opens on blackcurrant, tart and leafy, beside cédrat (a large, thick-skinned citron) and lemon. Basil, peppermint and coriander give it a cool, herbal lift in keeping with LV's 'detox' theme. Carrot seed adds an earthy, slightly powdery undertone. It finishes on soft fruit and ambrette, a plant-derived musk.

About the original

Released on 18 May 2023, Pacific Chill joined Louis Vuitton's cologne line as what LV calls a 'detox-oriented cologne', although its product page labels it eau de parfum. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed it, and Alex Israel designed the packaging, a California seascape in deep green and iridescent blue. LV describes the scent as serene and invigorating, and it remains on sale.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Louis Vuitton stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its green, herbal freshness makes it a natural pick for warm days. One editorial likened it to a very expensive cucumber lotion, and that cool, cosmetic-clean feel will appeal to some and put others off.

Basil and carrot seed form the heart, green and slightly earthy. Apricot and May rose appear in some note lists.

Ambrette gives the base a musky smoothness, with fig mentioned in fuller lists.

Is Pacific Chill a cologne or an eau de parfum?

LV sells it in its cologne line but labels the original eau de parfum. We make ours as an eau de parfum.

What does carrot seed smell like?

Earthy and slightly powdery, with a faint root-vegetable sweetness. In Pacific Chill it rounds off the citrus and herbs.
