Sedley, inspired by Parfums de Marly Sedley (2019)

Spearmint leads, cool and green rather than sugary, with bergamot and orange making the top feel zesty and open. Geranium adds a leafy, faintly rosy note, lavandin a herbal one, and pine takes the heart towards fresh resin and needles. As it calms down, sandalwood, ambrox and white musks give a polished base that keeps the freshness going without turning sweet.

About the original

Sedley joined the Parfums de Marly men's range in 2019 and is sold by the brand as a masculine fragrance. Parfums de Marly presents it as fresh and energising, built around mint, citrus and lavandin on a sandalwood base. Database listings credit it to Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani, and their note lists differ from the official one, adding lemon, grapefruit and rosemary and leaving out pine.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Parfums de Marly stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Hot weather is where Sedley makes most sense, given its mint and citrus profile. Mint is the dominant impression, so if minty scents remind you of toothpaste or chewing gum, test that note before committing.
