Tango

Tango, inspired by Masque Milano Tango (2014)

Bergamot sets off a gently spiced opening of cardamom and black pepper. The heart pairs sambac jasmine with Damascena rose, and cumin gives them a skin-like, faintly salty warmth while patchouli adds depth. From there it grows sweeter as vanilla bean and tonka come through, with melilot (a hay-scented herb) and a leather accord adding texture under the amber.

About the original

Cécile Zarokian composed Tango for Masque Milano, and it was presented at Esxence in 2014, although some fragrance references give 2015. It belongs to Act III of the house's Opera Collection, 'Sentimental Relationships', alongside L'Attesa, Romanza and Love Kills, and is sold as III.IV Tango. The brand calls it a floral amber. Tango Oud, from a later collection, is a separate fragrance.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Masque Milano stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Cooler weather and evenings suit it best, according to one detailed review, since the density can feel close to overwhelming in heat. Cumin may also put off wearers sensitive to its sweaty, skin-like side.

Is this Tango or Tango Oud?

Tango, the Opera Collection scent sold as III.IV Tango. Tango Oud is a different, later Masque Milano fragrance.

Does Tango smell of cumin?

Yes, cumin sits in the heart with jasmine and rose. It reads as a skin-like note rather than a kitchen spice, but it is noticeable.
