Geza Schoen composed Clive Christian X For Men in 2001 as the masculine flagship of the Original Collection, a deeply spicy oriental fougere built around rhubarb, pineapple and bergamot at the opening, iris, paprika and jasmine at the heart, and a complex base of Virginia cedar, cinnamon, oakmoss, amber, vetiver, styrax, French labdanum and vanilla. Schoen, who later founded Escentric Molecules, brought his characteristic willingness to use unusual notes (paprika in a masculine, rhubarb at the opening) to the composition. The result became one of the most distinctive luxury masculines of its era. X For Men remains in active production in the main Eau de Parfum format.
