Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, inspired by Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42 (2024)

Violet leaves give the first moments a green, slightly powdery edge, but candied pear and marshmallow soon steer it to the sweet shop, with a splash of rum and ylang-ylang beneath. Bubble gum and jelly bean lead the heart alongside white caramel, while labdanum, an ambery resin, and jasmine add depth. Vanilla cream runs through the whole thing. Vetiver and sandalwood hold the rock sugar, tonka and patchouli base in place, so it does not end as pure sugar.

About the original

Kayali describes Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar as a lighter, more youthful take on its best-seller Vanilla 28, inspired by Mona Kattan's love of candy. It appears to have come out in 2024, though we have not found a launch date published by Kayali. Gabriela Chelariu is the credited perfumer. It is a separate scent from both Vanilla 28 and Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli 64.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Kayali stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Candy lovers who find Vanilla 28 too rich are the obvious audience. One blog review found the violet and patchouli more noticeable than the bubble gum, so expect some powder alongside the sugar. Sugar is the point here, so it is not for people who dislike sweet scents.

Bubble gum is listed in the heart, but one blog review found violet and patchouli more prominent, so the candy effect comes mixed with a powdery note.
