Diorissimo, inspired by Dior Diorissimo (1956)

Diorissimo is close to a portrait of a single flower. Lily of the valley yields no usable natural extract, so its scent has to be rebuilt from other materials; here green leaves and bergamot set a cool, damp-garden opening before the flower itself appears. Jasmine, ylang-ylang and lilac fill it out without pulling focus, and sandalwood gives just enough base to hold it together.

About the original

Edmond Roudnitska created Diorissimo in 1956. Lily of the valley was Christian Dior's lucky flower and remains an emblem of the house. The formula has been revised several times over the decades, partly because of restrictions on materials used for the lily of the valley accord. Dior reissued it in October 2026 within the Dioriginals collection, restored by Francis Kurkdjian from recovered formulas.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dior stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Dior itself compares it to a spring morning, and mild weather shows it best. The feel is green and slightly soapy rather than sweet, with almost no warmth or vanilla to soften it.

Lily of the valley takes centre stage, supported by lilac, jasmine, ylang-ylang, amaryllis and boronia, with a herbal note of rosemary.

The finish is light sandalwood; older versions also contained civet, which gave vintage bottles a deeper, more animal tone.

What does lily of the valley smell like?

Green and dewy, with a faint lemony sweetness, like the small white bell flowers of a spring garden. It cannot be extracted naturally, so perfumers recreate it.

The Edmond Roudnitska composition of 1956. Dior's 2026 Dioriginals edition is a restoration of that same perfume by Francis Kurkdjian.
