Flora Gorgeous Orchid, inspired by Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid (2024)

Vanilla is the centre of gravity, and Gucci uses two different qualities of it. Vanilla orchid adds a floral, slightly milky side. What sets the scent apart is the ozonic accord, an airy, salty note that perfumer Marie Salamagne describes as minimal and luminous. It cuts through the sweetness like a breath of open air, though the overall impression stays clearly sweet.

About the original

Gucci announced Flora Gorgeous Orchid in May 2024, following Flora Gorgeous Magnolia (2023) in the line that grew out of Gucci Flora (2009). Marie Salamagne created it, and Gucci billed it as the brand's first ozonic gourmand floral. In interview, the perfumer also mentioned orange flower, pink pepper, citrus, Peru balsam, cinnamon and Ambrox. The eau de parfum is refillable, and a separate Eau de Parfum Intense with a cocoa accord came later.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Gucci stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla fans form its obvious audience, especially those who like a cleaner, airier take. The sweetness is pronounced, so a buyer wanting a fresh, airy floral may find it too sugared.

The original 2024 Eau de Parfum. The later Eau de Parfum Intense adds a dark cocoa accord.

What is an ozonic accord?

An airy, slightly salty note suggesting fresh air or sea breeze. Here it lightens the vanilla.

How does it differ from Flora Gorgeous Gardenia?

They are separate flankers in the Flora Gorgeous line. Orchid centres on vanilla and vanilla orchid with an ozonic accord.
