Aura, inspired by Mugler Aura Mugler (2017)

The opening is startlingly green: rhubarb leaf and bergamot with a crushed-stem, almost medicinal edge. Mugler built it around an exclusive tiger liana accord, which smells of fresh leaves wrapped in sugared vanilla. Orange blossom softens the heart, with ylang-ylang and pear in support. Underneath, Bourbon vanilla and wolfwood, a woody material with a dry, slightly animal tone, give it depth and heat.

About the original

Aura Mugler Eau de Parfum appeared in 2017, composed by Daphné Bugey, Amandine Clerc-Marie, Marie Salamagne and Christophe Raynaud. Mugler classed it as an ambery floral with a carnal side, structured as three accords: tiger liana, rhubarb leaf with orange blossom, and vanilla with wolfwood. An Eau de Toilette and a darker Eau de Parfum Sensuelle followed. Mugler's own site now lists Aura among its discontinued products and points customers to Alien Hypersense.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Mugler stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Strong-willed tastes, mostly. The green, slightly bitter opening against heavy vanilla divides people, and it is a dense, intense scent rather than a light one.

Yes. Mugler lists Aura Eau de Parfum among its discontinued products.

Which Aura is this based on?

The original Mugler Aura Eau de Parfum from 2017, not the later Eau de Toilette or Sensuelle, and not Swarovski Aura, which is a different perfume.

Is it a sweet perfume?

Partly. The base is vanilla-rich, but the green rhubarb and liana accord keep it from reading as a typical sweet scent.

Is Mugler Aura coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Mugler that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
