Boss Jour, inspired by Boss Jour Pour Femme (2013)

Boss Jour starts with tangy lime and the lighter, petal-like scent of grapefruit blossom. White flowers fill the middle: freesia, lily-of-the-valley and honeysuckle, fresh and slightly nectared. What gives it character is the base, where birch brings a dry, faintly leathery tone and amber adds depth. The contrast between airy flowers and a firmer base keeps it from feeling generic.

About the original

Hugo Boss launched Boss Jour Pour Femme in 2013 as the daytime counterpart to Boss Nuit Pour Femme from 2012, with Gwyneth Paltrow as the face of the campaign. Launch descriptions called the base more powerful and more masculine than the floral heart. Later flankers included Boss Jour Pour Femme Lumineuse and a Runway Edition, both different scents. The original Eau de Parfum no longer appears on Hugo Boss's women's fragrance pages and is described as discontinued by several dupe sites and second-hand sellers.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Office days and daytime errands suit it well, especially in spring and summer. The flowers are clean and the citrus is lively, though the birch drydown is drier and more leathery than some floral fans expect.

Is Boss Jour Pour Femme discontinued?

It no longer appears in Hugo Boss's women's fragrance range, and several dupe sites and second-hand sellers describe it as discontinued. We have not found a date for its withdrawal.

Is this Boss Jour or Boss Jour Lumineuse?

It is the original Boss Jour Pour Femme Eau de Parfum from 2013. Lumineuse is a later flanker.

How does it differ from Boss Nuit?

Boss Jour was designed as the daytime partner: citrus and white flowers rather than an evening scent.

Is Boss Jour coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Hugo Boss that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days. It arrives in 3 to 7 days across the EU and in 7 to 14 days outside the EU. You have 14 days to return an unopened bottle.
