Sequoia, inspired by The Perfumer's Story by Azzi Sequoia Wood (2015)

Sequoia Wood opens on neroli and palmarosa, a grass whose oil smells somewhere between rose and geranium. That freshness is brief, as red sequoia wood moves in quickly and gives the heart a dry timber tone. Its character really shows in the base, where a cocoa note threads through cedar and patchouli and is softened by white musk. The brand itself calls it unconventional and sensual rather than pretty.

About the original

Azzi Glasser created Sequoia Wood in 2015 as her own personal fragrance and sells it through her house, The Perfumer's Story. According to the brand, it was first inspired by her work on Alice Through the Looking Glass. It started as a 30 ml eau de parfum; a 150 ml size and a 'First Edition' version are now also offered. Our product, named Sequoia, is based on the main eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not The Perfumer's Story by Azzi stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who like woods with texture rather than polish will get on with it best. The cocoa and patchouli give it a dark, earthy finish, which may feel too dry for a buyer expecting a sweet chocolate scent.

The heart is red sequoia wood, a dry timber note around which the rest of the composition is built.

Cocoa runs through the drydown with cedar, patchouli and white musk, leaving a tactile, slightly earthy finish.

Our Sequoia is inspired by The Perfumer's Story Sequoia Wood eau de parfum (2015) by Azzi Glasser; it is not the brand's own product.

Does it smell of chocolate?

Only in the base. The brand lists chocolate cocoa among the base notes, where it sits with cedar and patchouli and reads dry rather than sweet.

Inside the EU, delivery is free on orders of €49 or more. Below that it is a flat €4.99. Outside the EU, delivery is a flat €4.99 on every order. We send every order in 1 to 2 working days.
