Italian Cypress

Italian Cypress, inspired by Tom Ford Italian Cypress (2008)

Italian Cypress opens on citrus, bergamot and mandarin, cut with the cool green bite of spearmint and basil. Cypress gives the heart a resinous, evergreen character, and clove adds a faint spice. Geranium provides a rosy-green thread. Patchouli, moss and rockrose, a shrub whose resin smells ambery and slightly leathery, give the drydown its dry, incense-like woods.

About the original

Created for Tom Ford's store in Milan, Italian Cypress joined the Private Blend collection around 2008. The official copy described it as an aromatic chypre that opens with bright citrus, basil and mint and settles into warm woods. It is no longer listed in Tom Ford's US range, and the UK site keeps only an old page for a 250 ml decanter marked sold out. Tom Ford does not appear to have announced a withdrawal formally.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers drawn to cypress, herbs and moss will recognise its old-school structure; it develops in a fairly linear way. Private Blend is sold as unisex, though many people find this one leans masculine. A buyer wanting sweetness or flowers will find little of either.

Is Tom Ford Italian Cypress discontinued?

It is no longer in Tom Ford's US range, and only a sold-out decanter page remains in the UK. fragrance references are reported to list it as discontinued, but we have not seen a brand announcement.

Is Italian Cypress masculine?

Tom Ford sells it as unisex. Its herbs, cypress and moss give it a traditionally masculine feel, which is how many wearers describe it.

Is Tom Ford Italian Cypress coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Tom Ford that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
