Energise, inspired by Hugo Boss HUGO Energise (2005)

Kumquat and mandarin give Energise a tangy citrus start, with pink pepper, cardamom and a cool trace of mint keeping it brisk. Juniper, clary sage and coriander follow, giving the middle a herbal tone, with jasmine and freesia in the background. The base pairs teak wood with a suede-like leather and a little vanilla, which takes the edge off without turning it sweet.

About the original

Energise joined the HUGO line in 2005, with the composition usually credited to Claude Dir. A separate limited spray edition with a similar name appeared in 2008; this page refers to the 2005 Eau de Toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Casual daytime wear suits its brisk, peppery character. Fans of citrus-spice freshness with some leather beneath will find it familiar, while the vanilla stays in the background. It is lively rather than polished, so it may disappoint a buyer hoping for something quiet and refined.
