Ganymede, inspired by Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede (2019)

Mandarin gives Ganymede a clear citrus start, but almost at once a salty, slightly bitter note from immortelle appears beside it. Osmanthus, a flower that smells of apricot and suede, links that opening to the leather in the heart. The leather itself is thin and mineral, with a metallic quality closer to sun-heated stone than to a saddle. Akigalawood, a patchouli-derived material with a peppery, woody smell, gives the base its dry backbone.

About the original

Quentin Bisch composed Ganymede with Marc-Antoine Barrois, and it launched on 1 April 2019 as the house's second fragrance after B683. The name refers both to Jupiter's moon and to the Ganymede of Greek myth. The brand says it has never been reformulated. A separate, spicier Ganymede Extrait was added later; this page refers to the eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Marc-Antoine Barrois stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its texture is the selling point: transparent and mineral rather than dense. The salty, slightly synthetic-feeling opening divides opinion, and fans of a classic smoky leather may find it too abstract.

Is this Ganymede eau de parfum or extrait?

It is inspired by the original 2019 eau de parfum. Ganymede Extrait is a later, spicier version sold alongside it.

Yes, but a light, suede-like and mineral leather rather than a smoky or animalic one.
