Neroli 36, inspired by Le Labo Neroli 36 (2006)

Neroli, the oil distilled from bitter orange blossom, smells green, floral and slightly bitter, and here it opens with mandarin for a juicy citrus lift. Calone runs beneath it: a marine molecule with a watery, sea-air tone that makes the flowers feel breezy. Rose and jasmine fill out the heart, and the scent becomes slightly powdery as it goes. Tonka bean and vanilla arrive late, turning it sweeter and more musky on skin.

About the original

Daphné Bugey created Neroli 36 for Le Labo in 2006 as part of its Classic Collection. The brand calls it sunny and sensual with a clean white floral soul. Early reviews picked out the marine undertone from calone and the way it grows sweeter as vanilla and tonka develop, though one found the drydown rather flat. It is a different scent from Le Labo's other orange blossom, Fleur d'Oranger 27.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Le Labo stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Clean, sunny florals are its territory, and early reviews found it opens light and airy. The marine note gives it an open, airy feel. Someone hoping for an intense, heady orange blossom may find it too gentle, and the later vanilla may surprise anyone expecting a dry cologne.

No. They are separate Le Labo scents. Neroli 36 pairs neroli with a marine note and a base of musk, tonka bean and vanilla. We make both.

Does Neroli 36 smell like the sea?

Slightly. Calone gives it a watery, marine undertone, but neroli and white flowers stay in front.
