L' Eau Bleue

L' Eau Bleue, inspired by Miu Miu L'Eau Bleue (2017)

Lily of the valley leads, cool and green as if the leaves were crushed with the flowers. Honeysuckle brings a nectar-like sweetness, while a little rose fills out the middle. Underneath sits akigalawood, a material obtained from patchouli that smells earthy, woody and faintly spicy. That base stops the florals from feeling thin or soapy.

About the original

L'Eau Bleue was the second fragrance in the Miu Miu line, following the 2015 original. Daniela Andrier created it, and it reached Sephora in the US in December 2016 before reaching global travel retail in February 2017. The bottle is transparent blue quilted glass with a pastel yellow disc. Despite the similar name, it has nothing to do with Guerlain L'Heure Bleue.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Miu Miu stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Spring was the season Coty built its launch around, and the green, dewy floral fits that framing. Compared with gourmand Miu Miu flankers such as Fleur de Lait it feels lighter, although the akigalawood base adds an earthy dryness that purely floral fans may not expect.

This page is modelled on Miu Miu L'Eau Bleue, the lily of the valley eau de parfum. Guerlain L'Heure Bleue is an unrelated fragrance from a different house.

What is akigalawood?

A woody material derived from patchouli, with an earthy, slightly peppery smell. In L'Eau Bleue it gives the lily of the valley a firmer base.
