Eau De Basilic Pourpre, inspired by Hermès Eau de Basilic Pourpre (2022)

Basil leads from the first spray, green and aromatic, with the slight anise edge of a fresh leaf rubbed between the fingers. Green bergamot gives the top a tart lift, and geranium adds a rosy, leafy note that ties the herbs together. Underneath, patchouli and spices form a light base that adds shape without weight. Throughout, the composition stays airy and transparent.

About the original

Eau de Basilic Pourpre is the work of Christine Nagel, and launch press dates it to 2022. Her starting point was a display of basil at a farmers' market. It belongs to the Hermès Colognes line, which the house says goes beyond gender, fashion, age and season. Hermès sells it as an eau de cologne, although some launch coverage called it an eau de toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hermès stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Launch press tied it to summer holidays, and its plant-driven character fits hot weather well. Men and women can wear it equally. The base is deliberately thin, so a buyer hoping for a sweet or musky cologne may find it lean.
