Legend Pour Femme, inspired by Montblanc Legend Pour Femme (2012)

Citrus comes first: neroli and bitter orange, with a pear note that rounds off their bitterness. Within a short while the heart turns to white flowers, orange blossom, jasmine and lily of the valley, clean rather than heady. Musk, vanilla and pale woods settle underneath, and Montblanc's own launch material described that base as powdery. Vanilla adds only a little sweetness, so the overall effect stays tidy and fresh.

About the original

Bernard Ellena and Nathalie Feisthauer composed Legend Pour Femme, which Montblanc launched in autumn 2012 as a companion to the men's Legend from 2011. The brand named Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich as its inspiration. Its elongated bottle borrowed curves and angles from the house's 4810 jewellery collection. Montblanc's women's pages now show only the Signature line and the Montblanc Collection, and Legend Pour Femme is no longer listed.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Montblanc stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its appeal is restraint: citrus and white flowers lead, and the vanilla stays in the background. It is lighter and less sugary than many modern florals. A wearer after something bold, spicy or deeply sensual will probably find it too reserved.

Neroli and bitter orange give the opening a bright, faintly bitter citrus edge, while pear keeps it from feeling austere.

The heart is a white bouquet of orange blossom, jasmine and lily of the valley, fresh and clean in tone.

Vanilla, musk and woody notes form the base, with a powdery, lightly sweet finish.

Is Montblanc Legend Pour Femme discontinued?

It no longer appears in Montblanc's women's fragrance range, which now centres on the Signature line. A few shops may still sell off their last stock.

Is this the women's Legend or the men's?

The women's Legend Pour Femme from 2012. Montblanc Legend for men (2011) is a different fragrance, which we also make.

Is Legend Pour Femme sweet?

Only lightly. Vanilla sits in the base, but citrus and white flowers lead, so it reads as fresh.

Is Montblanc Legend Pour Femme coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Montblanc that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
