Sun Di Gioia, inspired by Giorgio Armani Sun di Gioia (2016)

At launch it was described as a solar floral, a style meant to suggest sun-warmed skin, and that idea runs through the whole composition. Bergamot and freesia make the start clear and airy before the white flowers take over. Frangipani and ylang-ylang bring a rich, tropical petal quality, and coconut milk gives them a milky, rounded texture. Iris and ambrox, a dry woody-amber molecule, keep the finish clean.

About the original

Sun di Gioia launched in spring 2016 together with Air di Gioia, the pair completing a trio with Acqua di Gioia (2010). Launch coverage credits Marie Salamagne of Firmenich as the perfumer, and Barbara Palvin fronted the campaign. It is a different product from Acqua di Gioia Sun and has nothing to do with the men's Acqua di Giò line. Armani's Acqua di Gioia pages now show only the eau de parfum and EDP Intense, and Sun di Gioia no longer appears among them.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Giorgio Armani stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Women who like white florals with a skin-like, coconut edge will get on with it best. Coconut milk is noticeable, which may put off anyone who dislikes that note. Ylang-ylang also adds a heady, faintly banana-like richness.

Bergamot and freesia open it with a clean citrus-floral lift, and the marine accord adds a breath of sea air.

Frangipani leads the heart, with ylang-ylang and sambac jasmine making it fuller and headier. Coconut milk sits right alongside them.

Iris and ambrox finish it on a smooth, slightly powdery and mineral note.

Does Sun di Gioia smell of coconut?

Yes, coconut milk is one of its listed notes. It gives the white flowers a creamy, milky facet.

Is Sun di Gioia discontinued?

It no longer appears on Armani's official Acqua di Gioia pages in the UK, France or Germany, which list only the eau de parfum and EDP Intense.

Is this Acqua di Gioia Sun?

No. Sun di Gioia (2016) is a separate eau de parfum in the Gioia family, and this page is for that one.

Is Giorgio Armani Sun Di Gioia coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Giorgio Armani that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
