Wulong Cha

Wulong Cha, inspired by Nishane Wūlóng Chá

Wulong Cha is a citrus scent with tea at its centre. Bergamot, orange and mandarin make a sparkling, sunny start, and litsea, also called may chang, adds a lemongrass-like zing. Oolong tea follows, slightly toasty and green, with nutmeg giving a faint spice. It settles on Mediterranean fig and musk, which leave a milky-green, gently sweet finish.

About the original

Wūlóng Chá belongs to Nishane's Collection of Miniature Art and is sold as an extrait de parfum. Its launch year is disputed: some sources give 2015, while 2018 is more widely cited. The brand does not name a perfumer. It was later joined by a flanker, Wulong Cha X, which is a separate product.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Nishane stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Tea lovers and citrus fans meet in the middle here. Retailers market it for spring and summer. It is fresh with a light sweetness, so a buyer wanting a deep or ambery scent will find little to anchor it.

Some retailers list litchi, but Nishane's official notes name litsea, a citrusy, lemongrass-like note.
